Sandusky guilty on 45 counts - Implications for the future

It's about time!!!

Once upon a time, you saw a case where a woman, just beaten is hysterical when the police arrive... In a calm and collective order, the abuser would tell the police that she is mentally ill and needs her psychiatric medicine, and makes a plea about how it's hard to live with someone with this type of personality. Points out that she is acting crazy. The police would return her to the abuser, and eventually, she is killed at the hands of her abuser.
Well, many sexually abused children are groomed. At first we are made to feel special. Like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae. Or sometimes made to feel as if we are second class citizens. And then lucky to get the attention... Because it's about getting the victim to a place where either A) the actions are welcome because this respected adult is paying special attention, and while it may make the victim feel physically good, the emotional end feels very dirty. Or B) Since the victim is a freak or weirdo or outcast, and lucky to get this attention, no one would believe that the school oddball would be chosen to get such elevated status and no one believes them...
The long term consequences are long and difficult. All too often, the burden falls on the victim. Many times, its more difficult for a boy or a man to come to terms with being sexually abused. It's considered to be a female affliction, and so now many men question their own masculinity. At the same time, even if the advances are NOT welcome, often times, certain types of touch triggers an erection. Because of this, even though the victim is feeling dirtier than ever, it's a sign that they enjoyed the session, which only empowers the perpetrator, because they can always say the victim liked it, because an orgasm occurred.
I would like for all to come here and see what RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network) here: http://www.rainn.org/ and pay special attention to the petition for the Safer Act - http://www.rainn.org/news/news-room/support-safer-act and call your legislator now.

Sean's Voice: A memoriam of a sweet boy.

Youth voice Initiative (YVI) is also pushing a national piece of legislation to go attach to the Violence Against Women Act, because we fully understand that sex abuse is a life sentence, and even when we move past the victimization, we never just "get over it". Even when we forgive our attackers, no, there is NEVER forgetting. Normal relationship with the abuser, even if the abuser is related will never be the same, and there is nothing normal about it.

Men are just as much traumatized by abuse, and we must step in and help. Sean's father was physically abused by his wife, and was not believed. He had to spend time in prison for not protecting his son from the abuser. This petition is in memorial of Baby Sean, who died at the hands of his mother. For all he had to endure, this law will help keep Sean's memory alive as a loved baby boy. Here is the petition for Sean's Voice: The Unacknowledged Survivors of Abuse, our men: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/a-new-perspective-the-unacknowledged-abuse-survivors/ - please sign and share, to ensure that all of Sanduski's victims as well as all other male victims will have access to the help that they need, and mandated for our safety. This will help push for a better tomorrow for our abused males.

Youth Voice Initiative - A place to have a voice.

Youth Voice Initiative is a 501c4 to combat child abuse on many levels. The main one being getting tougher on laws for those who abuse our children. But there is much more than that, because the public basically still needs a lot of education on the matter.

Please come check us out, and we could use your help on the direction we can take, maybe you don't want to lobby the legislators, but, you have issues that can be put into something to make life easier for our victims. Maybe it's the kids up the street who are grossly neglected, or you just want to know how to support your friend who was recently assaulted... We need you, and you can help.

Youth Voice Initiative (YVI) can be found here: www.youthvoiceinitiative.org

Please remember to sign the federal petition for April's Law, to help ensure that the other Sanduski's of our country will be put away just as harsh, rather than dealing with unintended consequences of pursuing the justice needed. This makes it seem as if the perpetrator was the innocent one, or needs the slack or leeway, when in reality, the offender is just that, offensive!

America's Universal Health Care Upheld!

Supreme Court In Favor of Health Care

Breaking news, isn't it? It seems as if our country is in an uproar from multiple sides because of the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the bill that got dubbed Obama-Care.
http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/supreme-court-upholds-obama-health-care-law/article_f77df5b4-c12c-11e1-bef4-0019bb2963f4.html

Thing is, the far right wants to complain that we are headed toward socialism, then communism, when it's a simple matter of having Universal Health Care to get as much access to health care to as many people as possible. Another is that they want to whine about the fact that small business owners won't be able to afford to pay health insurance, therefore folding or not being able to expand because of the extra funds going to health care... WRONG! The way this bill would push it, is that it would create more competition, by giving incentives to these companies that comply by offering basic plans for those who need supplements, and if the small businesses are under an income limit, just like with people, they will be allowed a grant or stipend just to offer the plan, or if ineligible because they're just too small, the individuals would still be able to get access through public means, whether it's on their own or to apply for these same grants as a person.

As if this weren't enough, our mighty fine Governor of Wisconsin (although I'm not sure if he's actually for Wisconsin, or if he's the Governor of the State of Confusion) wants to sit on the health care bill, until the November elections, in hopes that Obama does not win a second term. Then he just wades it out until the next president overhauls it. Well, it's not going to happen like that. The DA says there are timelines, and those are there to be met, not ignored.

http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/walker-vows-not-to-implement-health-care-reform-law-attorney/article_02b0c3e8-c138-11e1-a185-0019bb2963f4.html

Funny thing is, if the Governor and the republicans are talking about job growth, job growth would mean economic growth, and a better economy would therefore make it so the expanded health care bill would be more affordable because the tax base is broadening. So I find it difficult that the republicans are on such a one track mind, because with so many issues surrounding us, we NEED to be able to multi-task, and if our male dominated legislature can't handle that, maybe they should step aside and allow their wives to step in to make things happen, but then again, that might be questioning their masculinity and authority too much.
Interestingly, here is an interesting article of the history of health insurance - http://www.journaltimes.com/news/timeline-us-health-care-reform-efforts-through-history/article_859d168c-c131-11e1-b40b-0019bb2963f4.html - as you can see, presidents from both sides of the major isle has backed or supported these concessions. Yet, when a liberal president does so, the conservatives go ape wild. When a conservative president does so, not much happens to why it got done.

With this new legislation, those who are poor enough to stay on medicaid will remain so, and those who are on a higher plan where there may be a premium, would be changed to one of these broad based plans, where because now it can be handled by a private company, the lower cost of having more people on it would actually lower the insurance premiums by a great deal.

Another argument that is invalid from some of these conservative groups is that they truly believe that this will raise the cost of health care. It won't really. Even if it goes up temporarily at first... The fact is, right now, if anyone who cannot pay goes to the hospital, they can't be turned out just because of inability to pay, and you would be surprised at how many people I know personally don't have insurance because they can't afford it... Anyway, when they go, they can sign up for a program through "Community Care", and grants pay for that. Where do the grants come from? The clinics and hospitals charge a higher fee for you, as an insured patient to go in... So while some complain about the fact that Medicaid/Medicare patients don't reimburse the doctors as much, there is at least a little bit of extra cost involved, because your private insurance on top of your deductibles and co-pays are helping to pay for those who need health care... You're already paying the extra, and with this new Universal Health Care, when insurance is eligible to those on low income that don't qualify for medicaid, yet can't afford regular insurance, you're saving money on two ends. First, your charge rate at the doctor/clinic/hospital will go down, because the uninsured will now have their own coverage. Second, because they will be sharing the burden on group plans, because there will be more people paying a premium to the insurance companies, you should either A) see a reduction in your monthly premiums, or B) your deductible will decrease - thus making it more affordable for YOU to go in to get your appointments on multiple levels.

Just as an example, please read these two articles:
http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/triple-digit-temperatures-possible-in-the-area/article_00a376d2-c119-11e1-8de1-0019bb2963f4.html
and
http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/man-found-face-down-in-water-at-north-beach-conscious/article_279430a2-c154-11e1-88fb-001a4bcf887a.html

Now, in both cases, where small children and the elderly are especially prone to being heat sensitive, along with those with certain disabilities, if the worst case scenario happened, there would be little the medical staff could do for these people, since often times, Medicare doesn't always cover certain treatments, and if one is on disability or retired, how do these people pay for these exorbitant fees when they are on limited incomes? An 80 year old on social security nor a Cerebral Palsey patient on disability have enough in their income to pay for much extra.
A US Congressman, Paul Ryan, from Wisconsin, is also against the idea of this universal health care, because he thinks it's imposing a tax... Read here:
http://paulryan.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=301437

If you go back up a couple of paragraphs, you will remember how the system will work. Sure, until it's full implementation in 2014, it may seem as if taxes may be going up. But, any person in business knows that you have to spend money to make money. With this in mind, just remember that implementing a new plan, whether it's business or health care, will cost some money at the onset, and as it stabilizes, and the kinks worked out, and more gets streamed inline, the cost savings will be more than obvious.
So those who so much oppose the health care bill also say that Obama care is wrong, that there are nonprofits that can help. Where do nonprofits get their money from? Not just the tax deductible donations you give them, but from state and federal grants as well, and where do these grants come from? Taxes, that were unused and/or unclaimed, and they went into a fund - These same people say we are a Christian country, yet don't want to help those that Jesus sought to heal. And what, if there is a will, there's a way? So a single woman with no family and has lupus is supposed to find a cure for herself w/o any help?
Thoughts to ponder. Most people who are in dire need of these services and access to health care are NOT your typical stereotype of one who is "leeching" off of the system. If some of us were "leeching" we wouldn't need these reforms to get the access. Maybe now, rather than having a fragmented health care system, where you can't currently go from one doctor to the next w/o having to go over series of repeat questions, diagnostics and what have you, that not only take unGodly ridiculous amount of time wasted, but also a lot of wasted monies that yes, they not only affect the patient, but the whole community, because we're already sharing in on some of those costs.

So, with the universalization, we will be able to integrate patient info, so that we can look up a name to see what is going on. Then, when we go to a specialist, we don't have to waste an hour appointment time just going over family history, since the specialist already has it. A good doctor will be well informed, and go from there. The insurance end will take care of that appointment, and then if prescriptions are needed, they'll be pre-qualified to go to the pharmacy... It will be up to the patient to understand these issues, and if there are questions, most clinics and hospitals have a person available to explain the details to you.
It's about time that some of us will finally get the stuff we need. For a more personalized point of view, here is how it will help, just so you can see the magnitude of it all, w/o having to whine about the frauds, whom are a minority, NOT the general rule. Seriously? Those of us who have to go through the system are already degraded. Here is Erin, from Erin's Law:

"Today is historic. The Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act, but more importantly, they ensured that health care will be available and more affordable for millions of women and struggling families.

Our friend, Erin, is just one of those people for whom the Affordable Care Act was truly life-changing. Two years ago, Erin was diagnosed with Lupus, a chronic auto-immune disease. And now -- after years of paying thousands of dollars for life-saving treatments, financial worry, and family stress -- Erin can finally breathe. She has hope.

Erin's reaction to the ruling is how millions of women felt today. This is why we fought.
Our victory doesn't end here. Republicans are determined to find a way to overturn the Affordable Care Act -- leaving millions of women, like Erin, and their families in medical and financial turmoil.

We can't -- and we won't -- let that happen. Our women, like Debbie Stabenow, Barbara Mikulski, and Patty Murray continue to fight hard for us. But they can't do it alone.

We need to elect more pro-choice, Democratic women, like Shelley Berkley, Tammy Baldwin, and Mazie Hirono, to the House and Senate to make sure women's health needs aren't relegated to second class rights.

The English Language, an anomoly.

I was born to an American mother and a Japanese father in Japan. Since we were not military, I went to the Japanese schools, and was fluent in both languages, at least in the spoken realm. You see, my mother did not know any Japanese, and spoke to me in English. I actually had to go out to play with the other kids to learn that language. I even went to school there until I started 3rd grade, and was proficient in reading and language skills.

Anyway, upon coming to Wisconsin, and going to American schools, while I could read well enough, even at grade level, yet I couldn't spell, because there was no need to learn to spell English in Japan.
So, here I am, learning the rules... When you get two vowels together, and the e follows the first, it's a long first vowel. Example, aerial. The e is silent, the first a is long. A vowel is followed by a single consonant, and then an e, the first vowel is long. Example. Evening. You don't pronounce it ev-en-ing, it's pronounced ee-v-ning. Another example, rule. The u is long. Okay, so what about the word elephant? Why is it el-eh-fant, rather than ee-l-fant?

So you have read and read. Why is it red for past tense, when the rule says, when two vowels are together, the first is long and the second is silent? But the e is short? What's up with that? I have no idea. Then how about the word example? Why is the final e silent? What purpose is it serving? No one had an answer... I must have frustrated my 3rd grade teachers here in Wisconsin, because I was full of questions that there's no explanation except that it's an exception, while some rules have more of those, so why have a rule if there are more exceptions?

The rest of the Western speaking languages based on Latin follow this basic principal. And funny how the Japanese vowels just happen to follow this pattern too... In any other language, except English, here are the vowels:
A = aa as in father.
E= e.h as in the first e in elephant.
I = i-h as in the name Lisa.
O = o as in okay.
U = oo. as in duped.

No exceptions. It doesn't matter if you have 3 or more of the vowels in front of you. Pronounce each one as you see them as according to the above phonic pronunciation. If you see a dash, it's just drawn out longer, not change the sound. So, of you see u- as in oooops!

Then I want to know, how is it that though, enough and through, the "ough" is pronounced "owe", "of" and "ooh", when they're spelled exactly the same?

Yet we expect those who don't understand or speak English to learn with ease... But when Americans go abroad, we want an interpreter. Go figure.

Do you have an experience with a weird English language incident?

Have you communicated through a language barrier, and because of the cultural differences, understand something different, and acted accordingly, and still laugh about it?

Any experience would be welcome.

Why we NEED to be active with our children AND their safety!

You read stories like these, and many people want to turn the other cheek because it's so disgusting of what is going on in the world with the lives of our young children.  But turning a blind eye is not helping anything.  It's giving permission to those who prey on our children.  Please have a look, and if it doesn't move you to do something, I don't know what will, except the fact that you may be helping the perpetrators.

National Health Care, A Must for Usa

Why do we need this?

My family on my mother's side tends to have longevity going for us. Both great grandmothers lived to be into their early 90's. A great grandfather to be about 88. The top picture is my grandparents, and my grandfather was 99 when he passed... My grandmother, who sleeps a lot is also 99.

We know it's a feat to make it to 85, much less to beat it by over 10 years. But seriously, in these days, it's difficult to think about, when we have our economy in shambles, and if you don't have insurance, you need $100 to walk in the door to your doctor's office... Well, if you don't have employment, you don't have money. So if you have pneumonia, what are you to do? The Emergency Room costs are even HIGHER, and well, things are getting ridiculous.

There's certain things that we can count on... One is that certain insurances will only cover us for so long, regardless of if we are paying the premiums or not. Even medicare and social security have their limits. Now that is at risk for cuts also.

We have growing kids, who may be into doing stuff like climbing trees, sports, and what have y you, and at the risk of not letting your kids act like kids, what would happen if they needed something and your insurance denied it or dropped you? A very nice family had something happen to them. Their oldest daughter, who is a total charmer, got childhood leukemia. Not that it's a good thing, but fortunately, she had the kind that was most receptive to treatment, so the outlook was hopeful, because they caught it early. But, she was allergic to the chemo that they were giving her, and the other kind, they refused to cover, even though it's approved in England. Yet if she didn't get the treatment, she could die... The parents decided to get it anyway, figuring that God would find a way to provide. We had a successful fund raiser that helped make it happen. But still, not everyone is so lucky.

The mother is a pastor, her father a retired pastor with strong roots in this community. The father is a well liked and respected person who is a computer guy and a coffee hound, and makes all who come in contact with him feel welcome. What about those who aren't so lucky to have such a broad support system? Then what? Are those kids not worthy because the parents aren't prominent? It's not a nice thought to ponder.
How about young mothers with their children? The last picture, has my aunt holding my cousin to the left. On the right is my mother with me. My cousin's family was on welfare at the time, because she became a stay at home mom, and my uncle was still starting off. WE lived in Japan where we had socialized medicine. People want to complain about those who need government help, and then saying that national health care is communist. Japan is no communistic country, and is actually a Social Democracy by political system. This basically means that they vote by democratic voting, as we do here in the USA. But, their social programs are for everyone.

For starters, even homeless people can have good personal hygiene because there are free and public bath houses for those people who don't have a place to go. Even in schools, rather than require all this paper work and the runaround for parents, the clinics come to the schools, and do the annual physicals there, and have a list of doctors to send the results to. It works pretty well. Even for elderly and those who have difficulty getting around, there are services for them too, and everyone is willing to give a little to ensure that all have a fair chance of staying healthy.

Eventually, when my uncle got a nickel raise... Yes, a nickel. He got cut off everything, and was in a dilemma of trying to support a wife and 4 children and no health insurance... Of course that ended up a better story, because he advanced to a spot where he could get the insurance. but affordability was an issue. There's the deductible, co-pay, monthly premiums, etc...

Today, our economy is in shambles, and many don't have jobs. I, myself am underemployed. I can't get what I need for my son's supplies, and there are issues going on with that. I also have a friend, who is single, and should be on disability. But, with no money, can't see a primary physician to get her a diagnosis to get on it. And because she is a middle aged woman with no dependents, she doesn't qualify for the Title 19 set up either.

With the various types of health issues I'm going through, I swear between my son, myself, and my husband, we must have 10 different appointments with 9 different doctors, ranging from a pediatrician, to a pediatric neurologist, to a pediatric geneticist, to a lipidologist, to an adult primary care physician, to a nutritionist, to a genetic psychologist, to an endocrinologist to who knows where we still have to go... My son and I have a couple of small genetic things. I'm diabetic with serious health issues. Yet some think despite all this, I should work harder at my home care job to earn more money, even though I'm in constant 24/7 pain, and have to have my husband help me get up and get dressed some mornings. Then because I work home care, that I should get minimum wage too...

Well, we are doing what we can, and eking by. But, there is no end in sight, at least not yet. We are willing to work. Hard. But, we need to be health enough to do so. yet in 15 years, and countless doctors, I still have no diagnosis on why my back is racked with pain and stiffness. And I'm on the "lucky end", so I'd hate to be on the other end. Sure, I could get another job, as what, a machinist? I'm not qualified nor would my back take that kind of pressure. I can't even walk down a half a flight of stairs with my own laundry basket. I am keeping my head up, because I know that being my own advocate will help me get to the next phase.
I will be having a meeting with people to talk about this on Saturday, June 16 @ noon. Anyone wanting their health story to be heard, please feel free to email it to me in an attachment, and I'll print it up for this meeting. I won't read it, so don't worry. My email is lika(dot)yvi(at)gmail(dot)com - This is important, so please, make your voice known, at your doctors' offices, legislators, and everywhere.

Whose Health Care Is It Anyway?
