In
the hustle and bustle of city life, it is never so quiet that you can
hear a pin drop. Except maybe on a snowy Christmas Eve, when everyone
is tucked in with families enjoying their evening meal, whether you're
celebrating the holiday or perhaps just enjoying your own supper in
solitude. As we all sit back with full bellies, stuffed with what ever
food we ate, it's fun to take a step outside, on the front stoop, on the
back porch, etc... just to watch as these big fluffy flakes of ice
fall. Just like children, we always seem to enjoy the one that lands on
our nose, crossing our eyes to see if we can see it melt, or to look up
and open your mouth wide, scrinching your eyes, to find out to see if
you can really catch the snow on your tongue.
The
quietness of the wintery bliss is very peaceful, even cheerful, despite
the gray skies that drops the snow that we love to see falling, but
hate cleaning up after... All of a sudden, breaking the silence, comes this big flash of lightening, as if Askr and Embla
are getting a wake up call from beyond... to teach us in these modern
times of when life was simple and innocent... when humans needed the
Gods and Goddesses to guide us. It seems as if our modernization has
corrupted so many, to the point that children grow up in need of
shattering the silence of the shame certain types of abuse brings
them... A return to a time where children are cherished to be raised
into adults, to pass their wisdom to the new generations of children.
At the height of winter, the harsh cold has us wising for spring.
We yearn for the flowers of life
to bring us freshness and harvest of new, invigorating, and a new
chance to rejuvenate. With this rejuvenation, comes the new harvest of
vegetation for human sustenance. Here's to fresh starts, new beginnings,
and a chance to get things done right.
