So, I'm here in my multiple capacities at the Hospitality Center, where so many good things happen here. It's more than just what it looks like on the surface.

1) They serve a hot breakfast in the morning, and dinner for a midday meal on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Anyone is welcome, it is a judgment-free zone for homeless, at risk of being homeless, mental health issues, needing a social outlet, and just because you want something different to do.
2) On Thursdays, they host a clothing ministry for those in dire need, and always are in need of so many supplies from clothing (all sizes from baby to big & tall), especially undergarments, personal care items, and anything you can think of.
3) AA meetings and other support groups are available on Tuesdays.
4) Laundry services, bus passes, and other helpful services are available.
5) On occasional Mondays, free haircuts are provided.

Because so much is offered, it is a huge task for one place to offer so much, and there are even MORE that's here, and also realize that the services still could be expanded to serve even a greater population, or expand the days of operation.

If anyone can help out with donations of any sort, it is greatly appreciated, even if it's just clothing you're getting rid of... If you know of any other sources that could be tapped into, that connection would be helpful.

Root River Festival

1) I was able to take part in a Chippewa Native American prayer-song that I learned to sing in their language about the importance of our water source.

2) Visited the booth for custom T-shirt printing and made this cool shirt that I'm wearing (and helped make): https://www.facebook.com/WeMakeTShirts/

3) Volunteered at the Wild Root Market booth to get the word out that we are almost ready to open. Being that it is a co-op, we could use more owners to cinch the deal. A one-time $200 membership fee, and have a say in what kinds of products go into the store, get discounts on various products as a perk (most discounts aren't available to the general public, who are welcome to shop at any time), and walk into the place like you own it... To find out more, please visit https://www.wildrootmarket.coop/

4) Enjoyed a craft beer from The Racine Brewing Company:https://www.racinebrewingcompany.com/

Visiting or having out-of-town people? Need a gift? Look HERE!

Are you going out of town to visit family or friends?  Expecting anyone out of state?  To be a good guest or a good host, you need gifts for them.  I suggest going to Lighthouse Gallery and Gifts located in Downtown Racine 306 Main Street where you can find original photos of the Lighthouse, local wildlife, and Lake Michigan.

They also have items such as cracked glass art, wood carvings, the Great Lakes with the water's depth graduated, coffee mugs, coasters, shot glasses, and things that say Racine, WI.  There are so many neat items, there will be something there for even the most difficult people to get gifts for!  It's a one-stop for souvenir shopping for sure.  Check them out!
