We’re not sheepish, we’re goating around

Next week begins Blogophilia’s 15th birthday! Come read, comment on one, & write a blog, it’ll be fun!

Whoever said Counting Sheep can help people fall asleep must have been either very complicated or too simple… the image of countless sheep jumping over the moon so smoothly turns into goats doing acrobats on rocky mountains… Doing sudoku doesn’t help, either, I rarely ever get those right – you get a square to fill out, and fill in numbers 1-whatever, and you can’t repeat numbers in any row, column, or diagonal, and each one has to have every number in it…

Best advice!

Keanu Reeves is one of my favorite actors. He seems like a genuinely nice guy & also has his quirks, and he’s not afraid to be a real person. It always surprises me when people act victimized or whatever when people get weird when “nice people” get mad. Nice does not mean no limits or boundaries. We might put up with more or try to ignore it, but once the line is crossed, you’re not talking about firecrackers or dynamite… Now it’s more about more advanced stuff. Treasure your nice people. None of us are perfect, and the good ones accept our flaws.

Don’t forget! The Racine Concert Band 2023 free summer concert season starts Sunday, July 2! There will be 7 at the amphitheater plus the 4th Fest parade, for a total of 8 shows. July shows start at 7:30, and August shows start at 7. It’s a nice event to enjoy time out in the fresh air, quality time with your family & friends, and relax while listening to good music that you can’t get, anywhere else.

Busking With A Message

I always tell people Do Not Disturb me when I'm practicing my instruments, wait for the show. Yet sometimes I wonder what would happen if I just decided to do it in public, but don't know what the rules are around here. To make some noise, maybe I'll go to a rugby game and eat a bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwich.

The Racine Concert Band hosts 8 free concerts in the summer. In 2023, the season runs every Sunday from July 2, 2023 through August 13, 2023 at the Racine Zoo. July concerts start at 7:30 and August concerts at 7, plus the 4th of July parade. The main entrance will be closed, the west entrance on Main Street opens 30 minutes before the show starts, and there's no fee to get in. Please come down to the gazebo area. Bring a chair, blanket, relax & listen to some good music.

Reaching for the Stars

Life: The Continuing Frontier, where even in the sunshine, there’s always Stormy Weather Ahead. Why some people have to plague our parades when life gives us enough of that. Let people celebrate their milestones, accomplishments, etc… Don’t hee-haw & oink at people.

Blogophilia 49.14: Time Traveling

Hard Bonus: Include a Meat Loaf lyric or line

Easy Bonus:
Mention a hammer and nail

Space Bubbles Rainbow

I think it would be neat to be able to do some Time Traveling. It seems as if we either romanticize or demonize history, so going back to see what it was really like would be neat. I also think if we took a page out of A Christmas Carol & be able to see what the potential outcomes could be, we could figure out how to make the best possible course of action to get to the best possible path for a better future, not just for ourselves but for society as a whole. A Star Trek utopia would be nice, but it won’t happen any time too soon.

While a hammer & nail are useful tools, they can’t be used in every situation. Figuratively speaking, duct tape & DW 40 are tools to keep it together, sometimes that’s just for patchwork temporarily… I’d like a more permanent solution. Meatloaf says it best in the Bat Out Of Hell (self-titled album – 1977):

And I know that I’m damned if I never get out,
And maybe I’m damned if I do,
But with every other beat I’ve got left in my heart,
You know I’d rather be damned with you.
Well, if I gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned
Dancing through the night with you.
Well, if I gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned—
Gotta be damned, you know I wanna be damned—
Gotta be damned, you know I wanna be damned
Dancing through the night—
Dancing through the night—
Dancing through the night with you.

Sometimes we don’t have a choice in the matter, but if you ever have the choice between damned if you do, damned if you don’t, always go with damned if you do. The same logic of “what if” – at least you tried, even if things don’t turn out. Nothing is ever a wasted effort. You never know if that sets the pace to make a gradual change forever, and if someone else who is quietly watching, trying to figure out life, you just might be their inspiration to take action for positive change.
