Week 20: Campfire Ghost Stories

Subtopic 1: Mention Gathering around the fire In your blog

Subtopic 2: Mention S’mores

Thanks, Diana!

I used to think that Aquarius was a water sign & couldn’t understand my attraction to fire until I learned that it’s an air sign… So, not only is it that I am the bearer of water from blowing the gentle rains or bringer of hurricanes or whatever, but it’s also to help spark the fire to keep people warm and to dump on if it’s out of hand.

I’ve always enjoyed gathering around the fire in any circumstance, whether it’s telling Campfire Ghost Stories, making S’mores, roasting hotdogs, foil dinners, empowerment retreats, or whatever. The funny thing is, I don’t even like marshmallows. I love to roast those, but usually for people who like to eat them but are afraid to get close to the flames. I’ve actually done just the graham crackers & chocolate, using one of those sandwich makers made for camping.

I’m ending this with a ghost story:

The black cat’s message

A big yellow cat appears at home. The neighbors don’t like it; they think this cat is a witch. Still, they keep it.

Months later, the man of the house meets black cats. Three times in a row. It is terrifying. They have a bizarre message for him.

Shaken, he returns home. He tells his wife and repeats the message: “Tell Aunt Kan that Polly Grundy is dead.”

The big yellow cat jumps up. “Great, that means that now I am the Queen of Witches.

My Grandparents

Q: What has one horn & flies? A: A garbage truck. My Halloween Dad joke.

I basically never had a relationship with my dad, and it’s like we’d been estranged since birth, even though we were a family until I was 8, and my relationship with my mother had always been strange, strained & stressful. I never met my paternal grandparents as they’d passed years before I was born, and these are my maternal grandparents, who I adore. I had my Aunt Judy, who is also my Godmother, and my grandfather was the man who was the example in my life. I am who I am, in part to them.

It’s not always easy to part with people who mean a lot, but life happens, and we have to keep moving on. It’s okay to grieve, but also remember to celebrate the good people you’ve had in your life.

Week 18 Topic: Be Yourself

Subtopic 1: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Subtopic 2:
Mention a rising moon

Growing up in a homogenous country in my younger years, where a lot of uniformity exists, then coming here to the States (S.E. Wisconsin to be specific) to have to fit in different boxes wasn’t easy, especially in an immediate family where it seems as if I couldn’t do anything right. I was likable yet didn’t feel lovable, so it was an adventure to where I could feel genuine, and I encourage other people to Be Yourself, too!

It started with going out to do & try different things, and as I diverged, got put in leadership positions, and explored various interests (even if they were lower on my list), I discovered a lot of things I was able to be good at, vs. what I don’t like to do. That’s important as well. We can like something without being good at it and can dislike something we’re good at. Go with what overlaps.

green tea ice cream

My favorite flavor is green tea ice cream. It’s got the sweetness & chill we all need on a hot day, but not too sweet, and a nice, robust tea flavor that makes it refreshing. Otherwise, it’s the standard chocolate type, different depending on mood. It would be cool to be on a date – enjoying ice cream watching a full moon rising.

Week 17 Topic: I forgot!

Subtopic: Mention a song title/lyric by the band Fuel

Subtopic 2: Incorporate the color yellow in your blog

DOH!

It’s not always easy being me, and with so many things going on, sometimes I miss out because I Forgot! Sometimes it’s my manners, like I shouldn’t get on someone’s case about doing something to someone else in front of that other person… I hope my apology to the other person is enough.

I wanted to feel this
I’m thinking of trying to fly
‘Cause if I get my ins
I’ll walk the sky
 – Walk the Sky by Fuel

People talk about putting out your wings to fly… Mine are so mangled I don’t think they can, I’d always lightheartedly joke that I’m making sails to skip the waters, but you know, I think I like this idea of walking the sky instead!

Yellow isn’t a good color for me to wear, I swear it makes me look washed out & jaundice, but the warm glow from the sun is always welcome! I guess I just don’t understand how it came to mean coward or shade of skin, though.

Week 16 – July 3rd – 9th: A Meteor Shower

Subtopic 1: Mention Fireworks

Subtopic 2: Mention the American flag

Meteor Shower

As the USA’s national independence day winds down to an end, the sky can look like A Meteor Shower. I love a good fireworks show where the starbursts mimic one of these. I wonder what it looked like with the bombs bursting over the American flag?
