Week 24: The World’s a Skyscraper

Subtopic 1: Mention Frankenstein in your blog

Subtopic 2: Incorporate a song lyric about monsters

Godzilla’s stomping grounds

It’s interesting to know that Frankenstein‘s monster was a vegetarian, was just lonely, and was devastated when his girlfriend was destroyed, right in front of him. All he wanted to do was the Monster Mash

Growing up in Tokyo, I always thought that The World’s a Skyscraper. Tall buildings reaching for the clouds, rooftop gardens, and it was easy to disappear into the crowd. I didn’t like being in the “country” where the nearest neighbor was 3 large city blocks away, though I was fascinated by my great grandmother’s farm. As a young adult, I wanted to live on a busy street. Now, um. Crowds make me anxious & people annoy me. I’d rather have a smaller circle to myself.

Week 23: Let’s Celebrate!

Subtopic 1: Incorporate “Make a wish” in your blog

Subtopic 2: Mention the word “serendipity” in your blog

Calm, Starry Heart

I miss the days when I could just announce “Let’s Celebrate” and actually DO it. Whether it’s a small, intimate group, with the people I call my friends/family or a big gala, to me it’s fun. Lots of food, an array of beverages, and people to come enjoy the occasion. With the current state of affairs, my energy levels don’t allow for much, and I feel like all I do is show up to work (which leaves a lot to be desired), go to medical appointments, and barely do what I need to get done around the house…

If I could make a wish, I would opt for my health to improve significantly (even if it’s not what it was before), so I’d have the energy to get up/get out to do what I need to do. I can’t seem to find the information I need for work purposes, and the issues are things I will not post publicly at this moment, and I’m struggling to keep the balance between what I need to do at work plus doing what I can at home. No, it’s not just as easy as finding something else. I seriously need a huge dose of serendipity to make something work out.

Anyway, I think Dia Jae is talented with her artwork, and I could seriously use the vibe that comes off of this picture! Most of the time, this vibe has been attached to how proud I am of my son, and rarely in my life has it been for my own efforts & direction. So, cheers! Here’s toasting good things happening.

Green tea, for mood, vibe & serenity

Week 22 August 14th – 20th: The End of an Era Posted on August 14, 2022

Subtopic 1: What’s something you do (or your character does) to relax?

Subtopic 2: Name a comfort food

Over Exposed

The End of an Era happens several times during a lifetime. Transitioning from babyhood to childhood, to adulthood, and finally into old age. From being a student to real life. Restarting a career. Some of it is exciting but others are just frustrating or flat-out scary. The job situation in my area really stinks. It’s not that there aren’t any options, just that they’re all either temp, low paying, part-time w/o benefits, etc. and many are in production of some sort (whether it’s factory or food) or it’s a warehouse or home care. Certain things are going on where I’m at, and while it would be cool if I could vent & such, this is not the venue.

Either playing music (as in my clarinet or saxophone) or cooking is what relaxes me, I swear my energy & capacity levels are such a moving target that I’m not always able to do that… I feel like life, in general, has me either over-exposed, reverse negative, or underutilized in the wrong places…

Rice balls

Rice balls would be my ultimate comfort food, they’re simple, yet has substance. They’re also called snowballs, even if you use brown rice, and still balls if you shape them differently, whether a triangle, square, whatever. So, if you’re making a variety, the different shapes would mean that there is a different filling inside. It’s just it doesn’t make sense to just make a couple, and not up to going through the major production.

Week 21, August 7th – 13th: Who Let The Cat Out?

Subtopic 1: Mention catnip

Subtopic 2: Incorporate “litter” into your blog

On the lookout

So, every day, I like to sit outside for at least a little bit, regardless of the weather. I don’t know why I think it’s important to spend at least a half hour in the fresh air daily, but it’s something I do. So I look up, and Who Let the Cat Out? Oh, I guess I did… Normally, she stays in the doorframe, not wanting to venture out, but on rare occasions, Missy will come out, but will want to immediately go back in, even with Mama out there. Indoors, she thinks she is a full-sized Borneo Clouded Leopard, but venturing out, she wants to go back in because she’s my little Princess Missy Moo.

Unlike other cats, she doesn’t necessarily get overly crazy rolling around on the floor with catnip, though she will attack the toy mice with it stuffed inside. We keep her litter pan in the basement, underneath the washtubs because I swear she’s too proper that way! Anyway it is, she is my baby.
