WWG 46: Oh! The Possibilities!!!

Ultra Chill Subtopic: quote a line from Alice in Wonderland

Super Mega Subtopic: Writers Choice "make some noise"
Exit Straight Away

Life is full of surprises, many are plot twists because rarely does much go as planned… So, it’s like a new place where you can put in the floor, paint the walls, decorate the rooms, put up a ceiling (or not), all the way you want them, and Oh, The Possibilities!!! I think we often put too much on what we had planned, going with the flow sometimes can lead to other things that you didn’t even know you were good at… Don’t exit straight away, an adventure is waiting for you!

Sometimes you just have to try something different, and I’m thinking maybe I should have pursued that music degree when I was younger, since Imagination is the only weapon in the war with reality. Some people are visual, I tend to be the type to make some noise. Often it’s in the form of music, but, as an advocate, I like to speak up, too – my “voice” is heard, either way.

Blessings to you all! I’m curious as to what other people’s life-plot twists are.

Weekly Writer’s Group 45: What’s On The Other Side?

Ultra Chill Subtopic: use a line from a song title The Other Side, the Evanescence version.

Ultra Mega Subtopic: When you see yourself in the mirror, do you imagine there’s another version of you?

Where’s YOUR horizon?

Sometimes, when I sign off from social media, after saying g’nite, I’ll mention seeing people on the flipside… I’m not sure, but I don’t know What’s On The Other Side. I don’t know, maybe it’s a way of saying “until we meet again”?

In the mirror, there’s always me… the past potentials of life is now a skeleton, what I have left is WHO I am, not what I could be or wanted to be… I imagine what could have been, but it’s too late in the game. This line says it all: “Break these chains and let me fly to you high above the world below” The Other Side, Evenescence.

All is not lost, though… I am a mom, an advocate, and musician, and pretty successful at that, even if none of them actually pay the bills. I make it happen, so that’s good.

It’s been a journey… in so many ways… yet as many times as I’ve tried & failed, Hope Springs Eternal. Maybe it’s my Shinto leanings that I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the starsWalt Whitman

Just pondering, in the midst of waterways under the sky, greenery offering cover, finding refuge in caves, if our digestive system counts as an aqueduct… silly things we think about, sometimes.

For me, having Clouds In My Coffee is a nice, hot, steamy mug full of strong & flavorful enjoyment. For some other people, it’s about putting so much cream & sugar in there that their coffee looks like a cloud… No thank you, that’s way too many carbohydrates.

I’m just wondering though, who made my coffee so hot they went in the sky? Will it rain coffee? I want my coffee back, I wasn’t done yet… Coffee is a good beverage for when you need solitude, gathering, supporting each other, small group, large group, 1-1, private, public, whatever… In Moby’s words, from their “18” album, We Are All Made Of Stars 2002:

People they come together
People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
Cause we are all made of stars

Censored Again?

I remember these days… At a certain time each night, TV shows would stop airing. You’d get the color code stripes, but then again, it could be from shows that were on premium paid channels that were censored if you weren’t subscribing… Or maybe your parents did something. These days, you can watch shows 24/7. Back then, the youngest child who understood how to operate a television was the remote control, sometimes even the rabbit ears extension.

It’s fun to reminisce sometimes, and in others, Please Stay Tuned!

p.s. I will keep participating as long as you’re putting these up, and subtopics are fun, though not having them sometimes is an interesting challenge since it’s “writer’s choice”.

Week 43: Fallen Idols

Pixie Fairy

A lot of us, especially when we were teenagers, have or had an idol of some sort either short-term or bordering obsession. Some of them end up being Fallen Idols, like Charlie Sheen… Though for me, Brooke Shields was my earliest celebrity idol, who I still think is classy & beautiful. In real life, it’s my cousin Sean – who is a fellow “troublemaker”, musician, comedian, and more. He’s pretty awesome.

This would be success!

There are those that I used to admire or look up to, that ended up being not worthy for whatever reason. I’m not saying they’re bad people, but… they ended up not being who I thought they were, and so… I guess whatever redeeming qualities I looked up to are actually within myself, and need to try not to focus on my shortfalls. Don’t ever let anyone else dull your sunshine or take the wind out of your sails. Not all of us were meant to fly in the sky, some of us were built to skip the waters. Your haters & disbelievers can just disappear behind you.

Holy, **** NOOOOOO!

Hell Hath No Fury when it comes to the Polar Vortex, which can stop anything in its tracks… I’ll speak for myself that I hope never to go through that again, I’m actually built more for warm & somewhat humid weather. It put a damper on my far-fetched dream job of being one of The Sea Hunters: True Adventures with Famous Shipwrecks (Clive Cussler – 1994), where I could possibly dive into deep swampland to look closely at pond scum. Kermit the Frog would be happy if I could find a way to make it taste better. I wonder if he’d want any fries with that? Maybe a little more salt… Or just appreciate the fact that no, Darth Vader is NOT his father.

WWG 42: Starting Over

Weekly Writer’s Group Facebook HERE

Same Day, Another Year

Happy new year to all! Especially for Diana, who makes this all possible! Life is crazy, with so many things going on… there’s the job/career gig, home life, family/friends, things that need to get done (home & transportation), and of course, seeking new direction…

In the arena of direction, Einstein is credited for saying “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” I feel like my professional goals hit that at least a decade ago, and in a life where people expect those of us over 40 to have that traditional job working 9-2-5 or whatever shift suits your fancy isn’t for everyone. In going after a different direction, I think my best option is Starting Over. Forget those jobs that you go punch in/out of… No turning my desk/phone at home into a mini call center. I think maybe I’ll set my own hours to do music coaching, tutoring, playing music, and maybe a little catering too (make what I like to cook).

First, I have to get over some of these health obstacles, which makes it hard to plan sometimes… But, who knows, something could work out? Advocate at your service… Happy New Year 2K23!

Docking Trade

Keeping Up With Time seems to be a fleeting act… As a child, it seems to go so slowly that we have difficulty filling it up, even with the energy to do a lot. As an adult, even with pacing ourselves, knowing what we need to get done, we can’t seem to find enough time to do what we need and wonder where did it all go?

I wish I could say life is like shrimp & cocktail sauce, where we can just meet on the river to trade our different items, but being practical feels like “I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity” – (from a letter to George Washington Eveleth, 1846). This is why it’s good to have hobbies. Mine is music, cooking, sewing & some crafting.
