Conservatism or nonsense? Republicans can't have it both ways...

Many conservatives, and look, I say many, not most, or all... are talking about how people should be able to make as much money as they want, and also don't think that social programs should exist, and how people get successful from hard work, not being lazy. I can pretty much agree on that, except that there are huge flaws in that. Conservatives aka Republicans aka Tea Partiers or what I like to call tea baggers, have a skewed outlook on these issues. I think they're hateful, and here are some examples.

A big name shoe company and a denim wear company are quality American stores, employing literally thousands upon thousands each, from the raw materials to making the leather/cloth to production to warehouse to everything. Because of the prestige, Shoe Corp can charge $300/pair and Jeans Ltd can charge $125/pair. They pay their American employees $20+/hr, plus benefits for 3/4 time and up. Business is booming, their staff is happy. But they want to maximize their profits.

They can't really raise prices, because of basic economic law of supply and demand. It's a game of equilibrium, where if they raise the prices, they can't sell their stock, so they lose money. If they lower the price, more people want it, so then they go into more production of a specific type, and so have to pay staff overtime and so profits are compromised because half of the extra profits are going to pay staff and rents on the building. They can't just make one, because they can't make an infinite amount of moolah on just one item. So, here is what they decide.

Shoe Corp decides to go to a developing nation to where they have the basic necessary factories and warehouses to do the work, without any of the perks in place. Because the cost of living prices are lower, they close down their prestigious set up here in the USA, and decide to go there where they can pay their staff $20/day instead. Jeans Ltd, wanting to make the same type of profits, decides to go to a third world nation to set up sweat shops where they pay $20/week, yet it's still $300/pair of shoes and $125/pair of jeans.

So, then, now, facing an economy where the good paying jobs have left, and there are fewer jobs to replace them and at a lower pay rate at that. Now these same people who were making $25/hr are in the unemployment line, they are in need of food help, health care for their family, and more. So rather than be able to just buy "stuff", everyone else gets taxed more to bear the burden. Because of the less income all the way around, we cannot afford $300/shoes $125/jeans. The conservatives are now angry that our economy is failing, and tells the laid off factory people to stop being lazy...

So now, here is a case of the blame game. Immigration issues seem to be running amok. Too many people are complaining about Undocumented Workers aka Illegal Immigrants aka Outer-space Aliens. No need to be a xenophobe, just accept the fact that we are a country based on immigration.

The Native Americans were here, with relatively little trouble, nothing too different than the tribal version of what goes on in Europe. Free trade was going on with the Vikings, and most were all fine. Then the French and British got involved. Some Tribes allied with the French, others with the British, and some were with both, many didn't want the "Pale Faces" here. Yet because immigration wasn't a regular thing, there were little rules & regulation. So the French and English came in anyway, taking burial grounds, holy lands, etc, and just claiming what ever space they wanted. Just because it wasn't illegal per se, doesn't make it automatically legal either.

Lets face it, with every wave of immigrants or wars, the people of this country hated the group we were against. During the Revolutionary War, we were against the "Red Coats". During the Franco-American War and the Spanish-American Wars, this country hated the French and Spanish. During the Civil War, it was the Yankees against the Confederates. There were several against many different Native American Tribes as well as Central American ones. WWI it was Germany and Hungary. WWII it was Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and it's social republic, Japan, and others. That's during war time... and when people came here as immigrants, we didn't want the Pollacks, the WOPs, and then during Korean and Vietnam wars, we didn't want the "Gooks" either. And wasn't it just 10 years ago that we were afraid that the Russians were coming? Yet we had gotten past those, and we have new enemies right now...

Today, as a country, we hate the Iraqi people as well as the Afghanistani people. Why? It doesn't matter, there is a war going on, and people just blindly hate. We also don't want the Mexican people, as they are the biggest group that make up the "illegal alien" status. We complain that they're leaching off the system. Yet why? We invade Iraq for no reason, and then complain that their oil is too expensive. We don't want the Mexicans to "take our jobs" yet we keep sending factories and other corporations there. See the hypocrisy? Eventually, this too will pass, and as a country, we will find another group of people to hate...

The health care bill seems to be the big thing, to where everyone keeps crying that it's a "socialist program". It is not. Too often we are trying to say that it's the lazy freeloaders who are on the health care system. Granted, fine, there are scams going on, and it, like the immigration status, needs to be reformed, but just understand, you're never going to get 100% of either case solved. I'm thinking that the level of welfare fraud is on the low end, and when someone does it, it's huge, and when they're caught, it's sensationalized, to the point where conservatives are assuming that it's the rule.

I can't speak for any other state, but in Wisconsin, it's not welfare anymore, it's Wisconsin Works or W2, and this innovation won former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson (R) his spot on Bush's cabinet 10 years ago, and was going to push a national version of it. So mush for Tommy's cheesy innovation. Anyway, as to say that only freeloaders take the health care, see the economic problem in the first example. You can't have it both ways.

You republicans want Americans OFF of food stamps, public health care and more? Tell Shoe Corp & Jeans Ltd to come back. You're not sending people to Mexico to work, or you're just plain un-American. Then to say you want to abolish the minimum wage, not just lower it, but to toss it out, ban it, get rid of it, BANISHED! Why, so you can pay Americans Mexican wages and live off of it? That won't fix the economic situations. You don't want immigration, then don't export the jobs. It's a total invite.

So, here is what we do. Bring back the corporations. Rather than give breaks to those who leave the country to help other countries thrive while we dive, do it the other way around. Reward the domestic companies. The extra revenue in taxes will reduce the deficit. People will get their own jobs, and Americans will go off of welfare and save even more money.

Next, utilize medical marijuana and start marketing hemp products. It can be used for paper, shoes, back packs, reusable flour sacks, and more. This will create jobs also, increasing taxes as well as business dollars.

Then rather than keep up on the war on drugs and the war on terror, it's a huge catch 22 anyway, and the madness just needs to stop. Then these companies need to start hiring Americans, legal aliens and honest people first, not illegal aliens and current prisoners. Pay descent wages, and then fix the educational system. We are in no shape to compete on the international market if we can't properly educate our own. Immigrants must be encouraged to learn the language, or they don't get to get any benefits. Illegal immigrants must be willing to rectify their own situations or their whole families (in tact) will be deported back to their own countries.

Just remember, you Republicans, you can't have it both ways. If you can't ban social services AND get rid of jobs to be greedy. You're never going to get rid of poor people, and disabled people will always be around. Not everyone will be able to save for retirement, and we can't have all business owners and no workers. You don't see a bee hive with all queens thrive, they need workers. If we are going to succeed as a country, we will need a good common sense ground and everyone will need to compromise.

Think of it this way, you want nice vacations, and nice cars to drive, etc. But if you're going to buy a nice house, you need to save money. You compromise by going camping instead of that Disney Vacation, and buying a used car or stop trading up until you can budget out the next set of payments. So in that case, why isn't it reasonable to ask the government to do the same thing? We are all here together, and I expect the government to do so.

That's why I'm voting for Senator Russ Feingold, for not being a greedy politician. He has refused pay raises to help keep our taxes down, and voted against NAFTA. He was the only Senator and democrat to vote against it.

I'll also be voting for State Senator John Lehman, Representative Cory Mason, for their support on April's Law. Please continue to support the cause by signing and passing around the petitions. Just click the highlighted words, and it will take you straight there. Here is the April's Law Federal Petition. Now here it is for April's Law Wisconsin. Our children are our future. Lets keep them safe, and educate them. When Lehman and Mason get voted in, they will ensure that April's Law Wisconsin will hit the legislative floor January 2011 as first thing on the docket. The amendments to the current law will stiffen the sentences on child sex predators. This is a bipartisan issue, and support is on both sides. But if we are going to protect our children, fix the rest of the problems too. Our children are worth it, don't they deserve to live better?

All opinions and discussion are welcome. Any name-calling diatribe will be dealt with as I see fit.
